Thailand Bicycle Tours & Cycling Holidays Valley of the Mists 7 days, Inn to Inn
“Explore the colorful world of Northern Thailand beyond Chiang Mai. Discover its charm and cuisine. Delve into its history and culture.”
Take some mountain climbs worthy of the Tour de France, drape them with lush green tropical forests, sprinkle in some villages of bamboo huts, then blend in the friendly Thais their their delicious cuisine and you have our most exotic alpine bike tour: Thailand - Valley of the Mists. And there is more to the trip than just the pedaling, as we roll along visits are made to an unusual crystal cave with its delicate calcite needles and gems, the Tham Pla (fish cave) with hundreds of giant fish swimming up the rushing water and unique wooden temples whose architecture reflects Burmese Buddhism rather than Thai.
This week long cycling trip pedals through the relatively untouristed western provinces of Thailand, traveling from Mae Sariang through Mae Hong Son and on to Pai. The first few days are rolling, with some fun short climbs, taking us first to tiny Khun Yuam and then to picturesque Mae Hong Son, where the movie Air America was filmed (our delightful hotel there was built as part of the set). The second leg of this Thailand bike tour gets serious, with several invigorating climbs each day, as we roll through Soppong, Pai and finally on to Chiang Mai.
Come join us for a grand ride through a spectacular part of Thailand. Enjoy the friendly folks, excellent food, great scenery and challenging pedaling. The trip is a fabulous winter training ride for your team, an exciting get together for your bike club or an awesome getaway for you and friends. Discover Thailand's Valley of the Mists.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 - We will be meeting at Chiang Mai Airport and then drive south. We'll take a break from the drive to visit Ob Luang National Park and enjoy a hike through the deep, narrow Ob Luang Gorge, before crossing the mountain range to our hotel in Mae Sariang. Enjoy your first taste of Thai cuisine at a delightful restaurant overlooking river.
Day 2 - We start with a rolling ride through the lush forests and green rice fields of the Nam Mae Yaum river valley. A special sidetrip highlights our ride, as we visit Kaeo Komon a recently discovered calcite cave, lined with some of the most incredible crystaline structures see anywhere. Our lodge tonight is in diminutive Khun Yuam. 111 kms / 69 mi
Day 3 - Today's route continues northward through the lush foothills, but with many less climbs than the day before. We wind down our ride in Mae Hong Son, at our hotel, which was built to house the actors during the filming of Air America. After relaxing a bit, we'll set out by boat to visit a village of Paduang refugees (long necked women). 76 kms / 47 mi
Day 4 - You will earn your cold Singhas today, as we tackle the first of our big climbing days. Early in the ride we'll visit Tham Pla or Fish Cave, where massive schools of fish gather in the warm water issuing from under the rock. Then we off to conquer several passes en route to our overnight stop in the village of Soppong. 87 kms / 54 mi
Day 5 - A relatively short day mileage wise, after yesterday's challenge. We have only one pass to do today but it is a big one, then it is downhill and rolling terrain to the town of Pai. Quiet Pai is a favorite mountain getaway town for Thai and foreign visitors alike. You can spend the afternoon exploring the narrow streets or perhaps head south of town for a soak at Pai Hot Springs. 50 kms / 31 mi
Day 6 - Continuing through the rural mountain region, we tackle our last climbs. Up top of the climb, you roll along the ridge line for a while, the terrain is scenic, overlooking thick forests and small villages. In the town of Ban Pang Hong, we'll load up in the support van and drive back to Chiang Mai, where we'll celebrate the end of a great ride in our favorite riverside restaurant. 82 kms / 51 mi
Day 7 - We'll be shuttling everyone back to the airport for your trip home or onward to more adventures. Khap khun khap, sawasdee khap
