Thailand
vs
France

We are all travellers in the wilderness of this world, and the best we can find in our travels is an honest friend - Robert Louis Stevenson
Biking in France vs Thailand. Thailand saves you money !

Contrary to popular belief, enjoying a bike tour in Thailand is more economical than France or other European destinations for folks from the USA and Canada. The reality is that a week long Thailand bike tour from Pedalers Pub & Grille, PLUS the airfare from North America, PLUS a couple of extra days in Bangkok or at the beaches, costs less than a similar bike tour in France. And we are talking about just the French bike tour package, not including travel expenses. Even better, you can add in the costs for a few ice cold Thai beers at dinner each night, some local handicrafts for souvenirs, plus a decent tip for your guides and still come out ahead.

Factor in the airfare from the USA to Europe and folks choosing to enjoy a cycling holiday in Thailand will save enough money to enjoy a weekend bicycle tour back home or perhaps explore more of Asia's exotic wonders with a stopover or two en route back from Thailand ... maybe a few days in Hong Kong or some sea kayaking at Ha Long Bay in Vietnam.

Thailand offers cyclists outstanding touring opportunities. With a great network of quiet backroads, some of the world's most bike friendly drivers, beautiful landscapes, luxurious lodging and a flavorful cuisine that rivals the best of France, it is hard to find reason not to plan your next bike tour in Thailand. OK, so maybe you have to sit on the plane a while longer, but you can catch up on all those movies you didn't want to pay $15 to see in the cinema back home.

Tempting ?

We've run the numbers for you below. The prices are based on information posted online on 5 March 2010 at the respective tour operators websites. The prices for the France tour are for a 2010 summer departure of a 7 day tour through the Dordogne or Loire regions of France, for trips that provide a similar level of quality for hotels, meals and support services as does Pedalers Pub & Grille. Prices for Thailand are based on a 2010 November departure of our week long Northern Highlights tour.

Why not bike Thailand this next winter ! (ps: it is more bike friendly than France as well)
