Who Rides with Pedalers

tour imagesFolks from all walks of life and various countries around the world have joined us for an enjoyable cycling holiday. Your fellow group members will be a varied lot, from teachers to engineers to doctors to students to retirees. The one thing they all have in common is a desire to explore our world at the intimate pace of a bicycle tour. As we allow you the freedom to ride at your own pace, your group will have riders of varying levels, paces and skills. And you can usually find someone with similar levels as yourself to explore the scenic highways and byways with.

Most groups are a mix of couples and solo travelers. Men tend to outnumber women, but not by a great amount. Riders range in age from their 30s to their 70s, with longer tours drawing an older crowd and shorter trips a younger set.

Group Size

Our groups are kept small to allow us to enjoy unique, more intimate lodges rather than the large, impersonal hotels. Most groups in Asia and the Pacific number 6 to 10 guests, with a maximum of 12 guests on scheduled dates. Our scheduled dates in Thailand, Bali and Bhutan are guaranteed to depart with a minimum of only two guests registered, so you don't need to worry about trip cancellations due to group size when you plan your vacation. Our trips in Tibet, Nepal, Hawaii and Alaska require a minimum of 4 guests for a departure to be guaranteed.

Our camping trips can get a bit larger, as we allow up to 24 riders for these tours.

Private Trips for Your Club, Company or Group

tour imagesBring the whole gang next time. We are most happy to plan a special group outing for your family, friends, bike club, corporation or church group. It can be as simple as a private departure of one of our regularly scheduled trips or a completely custom routing setup especially for you. We have very few limits on how big your group can be, though some of the better hotel choices might have limited numbers of rooms. And how long you travel for is up to you. Visit our Private Trips & Custom Tours page for more details and to start the planning of your dream bike tour.

Traveling Alone

Many of our guests are individuals traveling by themselves and enjoying the new found camaraderie of a small group tour. Because our prices are based on two people to a room while staying in hotels, we are happy to pair up solo travelers to share a room and enjoy the lower price. You are also welcome to request a private room for just yourself, for which an additional Single Supplement charge applies.

Sharing a Room

tour imagesIf you have a biking buddy who is also traveling on your tour, you can request to room with them when you complete your Rider Questionnaire. Otherwise, we pair up guests based on their age, sex and hometown location. We use the information you provide in your Rider Questionnaire to do this, so the sooner you submit this information, the better we can pair you up.

While we try to pair up all guests who request it, we do not always have sufficient numbers of single travelers to accomplish this. If you are signed up for the trip at least 4 months in advance and we are unable to find you a roommate, we waive the Single Supplement fee. If you sign up less than 4 months before departure and we are unable to find a roommate, then the Single Supplement fee does apply.

Private Rooms

Guests who request a private room for just one person will have to pay the Single Supplement fee. If you desire a private room, we suggest booking early, as the number of single rooms is very limited on our trips.

You and your team were awesome. I’ve gone on nine straight trips with my friends and definitely put this one as one of the best.
